Don't Get Stuck in the Slow Lane...

We have been traveling fulltime in our RV with our two young boys for over four years. Every turn in the road has led us to a new and exciting adventure! Our most memorable experiences have been when we meet other fulltime families and we get the chance to explore our world together! Kayaking in Florida, Hiking in Maine, Zip-Lining in Oregon, Bicycling in Chicago, Fishing in Alaska or just hanging out for a night or two around a campfire is what makes life on the road worth living!

One of the most common complaints we hear from other families about a fulltime RV life on the road is that kids don’t have a chance to socialize as much as they would like to. Watching our kids play at the many rallies we’ve attended, where they can run and play till their hearts content got us thinking. What if we could figure out a way to get these amazing FOTR kids together more often. It’s so cool to be with like-minded individuals that share a common respect for our planet, love of their family and a true interest in the education of their children. We wanted to find a way to meet up more than just once a year.

Thus the creation of Detours!

As the official event coordinators for Families On The Road (FOTR), we will be providing FOTR Rallies for our members. Twice a year, families will have a chance to enjoy the company of fellow travelers. Rallies will include activities, entertainment and workshops to help enhance our experience on the road. We also will be running monthly Field Trip Fridays, giving us the ability to take advantage of group discounts at exciting locations throughout the country. Whether it is a day hike, a float down the river, a trip to an amusement park or just a good ol' day at the beach, it is our intention to get Families On The Road members together on a more consistent basis. Let’s face it, none of us live in a neighborhood and attend regular activities, so this could be that quick fix we are sometimes looking for.

Families that are considering a fulltime life traveling on the road are more than welcome to attend our Field Trip Friday events as well as other open events that will be held throughout the year in different parts of the country. The FOTR Rally is the only event that will be for FOTR Members Only! There is no charge to become a member of FOTR. All we ask is that you are currently traveling fulltime in an RV with your family.

We request that you submit your family name, website or blog information reflecting that you are a family currently traveling in an RV fulltime with kids (sorry, pets don't count), a short bio of 150 words or less and a small picture of your family.
